Philosophical Thought of the Day

This thought came after I read a particularly lovely letter I recieved today.

It's about the impossibility of living a totally rational life.

A man decides to live a totally rational life and heads off to live by himself. But after a week all his food runs out and he has to go to the shops to buy more food.

The problem is the two nearest stores are an equal distance apart and are also totally identical. There is no reason for him to choose one over the other.

How can he make a rational decision? He can't. He can rationally decide that he must make a rational decision or starve to death, but that in itself is irrational

Is it then impossible for someone to live totally rationally?
