"Right discipline consists, not in external compulsion, but in the habits of mind which lead spontaneously to desirable rather than undesirable activities."
Bertrand Russell
And so I have abandoned my idea of encouraging social activity through a cirricular subject.
It is possible to pursue social awareness in this way, but in making social activity compulsory you taint it.
I think I have now settled more on the idea of making it an optional subject in transition year. Alongside Mini Company hopefully, so that it might balance out the negative aspects of that subject. Though I doubt it. It's a pretty big and greeedy thing in our school.
Otherwise it's back to leading by example.
Now, how best to raise funds for helping secondary school students in Bolivia? Any ideas?
